Don’t Know What to Give for Christmas? How About a Toilet?

Habitat for Humanity’s Gifts That Build program lets you honor friends and family by giving Habitat House Parts in their name. The recipient gets a holiday card, a special ornament, and the joy of knowing a family in need was helped by their generosity.

Habitat for Humanity Portland/Metro East has a great way to give sustainably this holiday season. Our Gifts That Build program is a way to touch two people’s lives at once. You can give a Habitat House Part in honor of a friend or family member. House parts range from a $10 box of nails, to a $50 toilet to lumber, a roof, or a whole house! Your recipient will receive a specially designed greeting card and a commemorative ornament, and a hardworking, local family will be benefitting from your generosity.

This is the perfect gift idea for the family member who has everything, the friend who is into sustainable giving, or the co-worker’s name you picked out of a secret Santa hat. It’s a holiday gift given in the true spirit of the season. And, no matter how much shopping you do, you’ll never find a fruitcake or sweater that is tax deductible.
